Orange Beach Fishing Report 5/9/13

I didn't get to fish much this past week due to some back issues, but I felt much better today and snuck out before work to hit some artificial reefs within 12 miles to target Triggerfish. It wasn't a red hot bite, but we did end up boating about 15-16 and had to throw a few back that were undersized. Along with the Triggers, we caught Red Snapper (of course) and a couple Amberjack. We caught the Triggers using lighter weight two-hook rigs with very small pieces of squid. The Amberjack hit jigs. I also hooked a large Tripletail on the ride out after spotting it under a floating log. The fish ate a DOA shrimp I threw at it and after a fun fight he eventually threw the hook.

Several boats made it out Tuna fishing Wednesday night and others are going tonight. I will report back what I hear since I won't be able to go myself.
