It's beautiful out today! We've had a crowd in the store this morning for sure, most getting ready to go scout the beachfront for Cobia. I should have some reports later for sure. For now, this is what I heard about yesterday:
My friend Jeb Brantley along with a couple of his buddies caught three fish yesterday with one going over 70lbs. They fished just East of Perdido Pass. I heard of several othr private boats catching some nice fish as well. A boat out of Sportsman's Marina boated a fish that went 86lbs! They are here for sure.
We did not have anymore Pompano weighed in for our 2nd Annual Alabama Pomp Stomp. I did however here of some Pompano being caught down Johnsons Beach to the East and from West Beach in Gulf Shores. I should see some fish weighed in this afternoon once the morning crowd gets off of the beach.
A few boats left Perdido Pass Thursday and Friday night heading further offshore for Tuna and Billfish. The bite has been spotty, but some some quality fish have hit the docks here in the past two weeks. Most of the Tuna action has been from further Southwest, but the closer rigs including Petronius, Marlin and Beer Can have seen some good bites with Yellowfin Tuna and Blue Marlin.
I'll be inshore tomorrow morning for a bit with hopes of some big Speckled Trout. Monday will be a Cobia day as long as the weather holds and I'll be inshore fishing with some customers of ours Tuesday morning. I'll be posting up the results!
